Non Verbal Analogy - Identify Relation And Choosing The Correct Element

Identifying The Relation And Choosing The Correct Element: This type of analogy consists of  questions containing  figures in the Problem Set and four figures as options A, B, C and D in the Answer. It is required to select a figure form the Options which best substitute the fourth figure of the Problem Set such that fourth element is related to the third element in the same way as second element is related to first element.

Illustration:In the following question, the problem figure contains four figure followed by four figures as option A, B, C and C. The first two figures in the question set are related in a particular manner. Establish a similar relationship between the third and the fourth figure by choosing a figure from the options that would be the best substitute of the fourth figure .

A

B

C

D

Answer : D

Solution : On analysing the options we see that if we replace the figure in option D with the fourth figure of the problem figures, we see that the fourth element is related to the third element in the same way as second element is related to first element. The relation between the first and the second can be stated as, we see there are five arrows in the first figure and in the second we have a figure with five sides. Or we can say second figure has the same number of sides as the number of arrows in the first figure. By applying the the same relation we see that as the third figure contains three arrows so the fourth figure should have three sided figure. Hence option D is correct.

Illustration:In the following question, the problem figure contains four figure followed by four figures as option A, B, C and C. The first two figures in the question set are related in a particular manner. Establish a similar relationship between the third and the fourth figure by choosing a figure from the options that would be the best substitute of the fourth figure .

A

B

C

D

Answer : A

Solution: On analysing the options we see that if we replace the figure in option D with the fourth figure of the problem figures, we see that the fourth element is related to the third element in the same way as second element is related to first element. The relation between the first and the second can be stated as, The element perpendicular to the two lines segments rotates by 90 degree in anticlockwise direction. the head of this element is lost while similar head appears on the other two line segments.
